I suspect the internal door that regulates outside air is what's causing the whistling. Next time you hear that noise try pushing the recirculation button and see how it changes the noise. Steve.

Also, pressing the brake while you jiggle the shifter can help too. Or 2) exercise the shifter from park to low and back 3 or 4 times.
