You'll need some primary oil too. The manual recommends 26oz (770ml) of primary chaincase lubricant. I've found that it is not enough, 32oz (1 litre) will fill the twincam primary to the proper level on my '05 softail. You can actually use almost any oil in the primary as long as it does not contain friction modifiers.

I check to make sure the oil is somewhere on the stick. If it is I ride the bike to fully warm it up and let it run on the side stand a minute or two.

Refering to the '06 touring models,the service manual says 32 ozs.The owners maual says to fill to bottom of clutch spring.I had to add about another 5 ozs to get the level to the clutch spring.No abnormal clutch action with this amount. I tried the Lucas 50W synthetic and like it much better. I also use the 75W-140 syn in the trans and the Lucas primary oil in the primary. Same great results. T.
