A couple of things are happening, fuel is being pumped the engine is doing some computer checks and if the weather is cool, there is a powerful heater, heating up the intake so that the engine starts easily. The colder the day, the longer it takes for the "wait to start" engine light to go out because the heater is taking more time.

Thanks for the information. The 2 wire sensor is the intake air temp sensor. The 3 wire sensor is the Boost pressure sensor. Thr boost has nothing to do with the intake heater.
