I would turn off and wait a few moments then try again, ususally this would work and it would take right off. It continued to get progressively worse.

I have a 2001 TJ 4.0 and it is consistently throwing a P0305 (#5 piston misfire) code and any time the RPM reaches 2800, it cuts out and surges between 2600 and 2800 rpm (exactly like a Rev limiter, assume a limp mode).

Limp Mode is a program mode your transmission will go into when it senses certain readings and malfunctions. The transmission will stay in 3rd gear and you cannot shift out. Only park, revers and 3rd gear work. No it's not an Enzyte problem!
