Sep 26, 2023 · Treegrower. My 2014 Patriot started to burn a tiny amount of oil at about the 110,000 mile mark after a lifetime of Pennzoil Platinum synthetic 5w20 and near zero loss. It's now maybe 8 to 12 ounces in a 6,000 mile oil change interval. Sometimes, the piston rings will get gunked up just enough to result in oil burning.
I did end up rounding off the drain plug head the second to last oil change. Got a replacement at Advance auto parts and it is much better quality than the factory drain plug. I would go get the replacement plug and swap them out. Only $5+ change. I have been using mobil1 5w20 every 5-6k. Purolator or mopar oil filter change with every oil …1.
