Now when the car is stationary or on a signal, the needle goes one point above the half and comes back to half (automatically). It seems the fan brings it down. To replace: Remove bottom section of the column trim below the switch. Four screws hold it in place, then pull it free. Disconnect the wiring plug from switch. Takes about 15 minutes to switch out. You can get it serviced online for $100-200 . and you get back your unit with your mileage. Or a new one at a dealer for hundreds + labour.
