Want to keep this one pretty simple. As of right now it's 100% stock with the 18.5" barrel. Thinking it might make sense to have a light on it and some extra shells.

The Mossberg has it correct, the Remington does not. Mossberg makes an incredible shotgun. Mossberg 590a1 is used by the us military. That should tell you how trustworthy and durable they are. I love my custom 870 but the Mossberg 590A1 is just the better quality shotgun. If you are familiar with the gun the safety location will come second nature. I have never got by thumb hung under the shell lifter either. Both Remington and Mossberg are fine pieces. Either one will serve you well. I just prefer the 870 over the 500 series Mossberg, and I like the M37 Ithaca better than the 870.

Essentially yes they will. I had a Pardner Protector, I put a side saddle, hogue over molded stock, 2rnd extension, and sight rail all made and listed for an 870. Had no issues with fitment a all. As far as the Mav 88 goes, nearly the same in respect to the H&R / 870 scenario. Almost all parts for a Mossberg 500 will fit.
