The tour was a highlight of our cruise stop at Costa Maya. Toucan Tours did a fabulous job of welcoming us when we arrived-though you do need to exit the port. Just ask people in the port shops to point you in the correct direction. They had complimentary water for us throughout the trip and explained the culture of the people of Costa Maya.

Costa Maya cruise port is very safe for visitors. There are strict rules in place meaning only people on cruise lines, or visitors who have reservations for the port’s attractions, are able to enter. The area around Puerto Costa Maya is also very safe. Mahahual and the surrounding region are sparsely populated and crime levels are very low.
