If I shift between forward and reverse, it will gradually begin to go longer distances until I can finally mow the lawn. I changed both the upper and lower drive ... Now the deck drive belt never slips off. This fix is for the timed deck on earlier LTX 1040 mowers. Later mowers used a staggered deck and this fix may not work on them. If it has 3 10mm bolts on the left side of the frame, behind the rear wheel. Remove them. If it has the one where 2 bolts hold it on, loosen them. Once you get the big belt off, reroute the new one.
