Ffxiv audio cuts out.

As title says, game audio cuts out randomly. I haven't been able to find any rhyme or reason to it, but it is really annoying in group content. I have to either suffer through the rest of the run with no audio, or have the group wait for me to restart the game. It's just the game, all other audio on my PC works fine. However I recently got a new PC and installed FFXIV. My problem is that randomly the sound will break for a 30-40 seconds and then it will return. However during that time I cannot use keybinds talk to NPCs, try on gear, etc. Once the sound comes back i'll be able to do all this again but it won't be long until the sound cuts out again.

Switched from DX11 to DX9, got sound back. Game runs terribly on DX9 for me, so I tested if switching back to DX11 would retain sound and my sound now works on DX11. ...
