Since uchi and naga are the same weapon type (katanas) wielding simultaneously lets you use dual wield attacks, which I personally think are very much worth it. Confirmation: Killing Yura early still allows you to obtain Eleonora's Poleblade. I had killed Yura the first time I saw him to obtain his Nagakiba (a.k.a Sephiroth sword). Fortunately this did not affect my ability to obtain Eleonoara's Poleblade or Reduva.
