47 mass of pure magic in 70 gathers sounds like pretty good RNG but I just started excavating those nodes myself. Though yes, to my knowledge it is RNG, and may be affected by worker luck, but I don't personally have the percent chance of a Mass of Pure Magic dropping so even if luck does make a difference, it may not be noticable in only a few completions.
